"Stand clear of the closing doors please"

Welcome to my new blog. mainly this blog will contain some random stories about my daily commutes and other stories that I think are somewhat entertaining and/or worth sharing. On those days when simply typing out a narrative won't do something justice, I'll probably put up a drawing. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

HELLOOOOOO

Sorry I've been such a stranger but I've been pretty busy. To make it up to you I've included a video from my commute home the other night. Sit back and enjoy the musical stylings of Keyboard Horn Lady!
also, Mr. Wompers wanted to say hi! He's been very busy as well. During apple season he spends a lot of time roaming the countryside. I hope everyone is doing great and enjoy the fall weather!

WHERE HAVE I BEEN?!?!

Well, things have been a little hectic this summer and I'm very sorry for the delay in posting. I hope to have a lot more regular posts in the coming weeks.
SONAS and THE HATCHETMEN
My buddy Ben Holmes and I have started a little Ukulele duo called  The Hatchetmen and we were fortunate to get to play a couple gigs with our friend Erin Flanagan and her group called Sonas. They play traditional and contemporary Irish music and occassionally add in a cover jsut because they love it. They were nice enough to include Ben and I along with our pal and Metropolis Music proprietor, Mark Dalzell, in a night of music at The Attic Ensemble in Jersey City. I was a great night of music and The Hatchetmen (featuring Mark Dalzell on baritone Ukulele) got to do two songs on our own. I wanted to play a song that I'd written called "Moonman", and we'd decided to also play Johnny Cash's "Understand Your Man".
The whole evening was a blast and I hope to play with them again soon. Sonas is an amazing musical group and it was an honor to join them. Last Sunday we got to accompany them on City Island at the charming Starving Artist Cafe. It's a great place to enjoy music and the owner Elliot Glick (a fantastic songwriter/performer in his own right) is the ultimate host. He truly appreciates musicians as fellow artists. And he cooks a mean pasta dish.

We also jsut wrapped up my friend Kelly Nichol's amazing new musical "Ten Reason's I Won't Go Home With You" for the Midtown International Theatre Festival. It was well received and we hope that it has another life in the near future in another venue.

On another note, My wife Bridget and I are about to celebrate our 7 year anniversary!!! I LOVE YOU BRIDGET!!!

SLACKER!

So...I hate to make excuses, but this past week has been pretty busy. Bridget and i were in a reading of Kelly Nichol's new musical "Ten Reasons I won't Go Home With You" which was just accepted into The Midtown International Theatre Festival. Not sure if we'll get the opportunity to be in that production but the reading was a blast and I really think Kelly has written something special.
I'm also currently rehearsing a production of "Working" which is being coproduced by The Attic Ensemble and The Theatre Company. Two great companies that I've had the great pleasure of working with previously. The show is a lot of fun and Director Billy Mitchell has put together a very talented group of actors and actresses.

Last Friday I went to see Wilco with my buddy Ben in Mont Claire, NJ. This is my second time seeing them live and I have to say they are one of best live shows. Thanks to Ben for the ticket!

Matt Hughes fights this Saturday in Abu Dhabi against another legend of MMA, Renzo Gracie. I know Matt will do well and my buddy Matt McDowell (nicknamed Boomer) has travelled out there this week to lend his support. I have had the priviledge of meeting Matt a couple of times and he treated me, my wife, Boomer and another friend to sushi in our neighborhood last time he was in NY.
Super nice, down to earth,  guy and 9X UFC welterweight Champ. Go get em Matt!

I'll update again this weekend and hopefully have some time to post a picture or something:)

I GOT A NEW UKULELE!

This week I turn 34 and my amazing wife treated me to a new ukulele (concert size) from Metropolis Music in Jersey City, NJ. My friend Mark Dalzell owns the store and has promised a ukulele jam is in our future. Mark's band: The Smoove Sailors recorded a song I wrote with Billy Mitchell called "Jersey Born" for his (Billy's) production on "Bartholomew Fair, NJ".http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wva0_PTa3ss

The Continuing Saga of Mr. Wompers: Chapter IV

Mr. Wompers would certainly miss his friend Glenroy Killgrass., but the hyradtion needs of the young pair would take priority over his own selfish agenda. Mr. Wompers would watch them safely to the top of the hill and then be on his way, knowing they were out of harm's way.
